Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program
Immigrate to Manitoba via the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) seeks recent graduates, skilled workers, businesspeople and their families who intend to
settle (and capable of settling) successfully and establish themselves economically in Manitoba as permanent residents. There are 3 major
streams in the MPNP.
- Skilled Workers Stream
- International Education Stream
- Business Investor Stream
This stream is designed to meet the needs of Manitoba’s employers. Manitoba targets internationally trained and experienced people with the requisite skills required in the local labor market and nominates them to receive Canadian permanent resident visas to settle and work in Manitoba.
There are 2 pathways:
• Skilled Workers in Manitoba
• Skilled Workers Overseas
This stream is designed to providing a faster pathway to nomination to international students who graduate in Manitoba and meet the needs of Manitoba’s industries.
There are 3 pathways:
• Career Employment Pathway
• Graduate Internship pathway
• International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
Note: If you are an international student who graduated in a different Canadian province, you will be ineligible under this stream, but you may be eligible under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream.
The Business Investor Stream allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified international business investors and entrepreneurs who have the intent and ability to start or buy a business in Manitoba.
There are 2 pathways:
• Entrepreneur Pathway – for applicants seeking to open a business in Manitoba.
• Farm Investor Pathway – for those intending to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba.
Note: The Business Investor Stream replaces Manitoba’s PNP-B business immigration program.
Skilled Workers in Manitoba
Skilled Worker Stream
This pathway nominates applicants who have a strong connection to Manitoba through ongoing employment and suitable skills, education / training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to Manitoba’s economy and local communities. Ongoing Manitoba employment is a way for skilled workers to demonstrate that they have the connection to Manitoba required to be eligible to apply to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba pathway.
Skilled Workers Overseas
The Skilled Workers Overseas pathway nominates applicants who demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba via:
- Support of family members or friends
- Previous education or work experience in Manitoba
- An Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative
International Education Stream
Career Employment Pathway
This is a quicker pathway to nomination for post-secondary students who graduate and find long-term employment in Manitoba in an in-demand occupation consistent with their training. If you fulfil these conditions, you will be eligible to apply to the MPNP immediately after graduation and securing the job offer.
If you are an international student who graduated in another Canadian province and/or are not working in an in-demand occupation, you may be eligible to apply under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream.
Graduate Internship Pathway
This is a faster pathway to nomination for international student graduates (Masters and Doctoral) through internships contributing to industry innovation in Manitoba. Graduates who complete an Accelerate or Elevate internship with Mitacs in Manitoba can apply to the MPNP immediately after graduation, with or without a job offer.
If you are an international student who graduated in another Canadian province and/or are not working in an in-demand occupation, you may be eligible to apply under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream.
International Student Entrepreneur Pilot
The International Student Entrepreneur Pilot will provide up to 20 (per calendar year) international students who have graduated in Manitoba the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship instead of employment. Once the applicant meets the conditions of their Business Performance Agreement, they are nominated for permanent residence.
If you are an international student who graduated in another Canadian province, you may be eligible to apply under the Business Investor Stream Entrepreneur Pathway.
Business Investor Stream
This stream allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified international business investors and entrepreneurs who have the intent and ability to start or buy a business in Manitoba.
Entrepreneur Pathway
The Entrepreneur Pathway (which replaces the previous MPNP-B stream) allows Manitoba to recruit and nominate qualified businesspeople worldwide who have the intent and capability to move to Manitoba and establish a business or buy a business or become partners in an existing business within the first 24 months of arrival in Canada on a temporary work permit.
Business Investment
- Minimum investment required is $250,000 for businesses situated in the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region.
- Minimum investment required is $150,000 if a business is situated outside of the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region.
- Business Investment must be made in an eligible business (as defined by the MPNP).
- The proposed business must create or maintain at least 1 job for a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident in Manitoba (excluding owners of the business and/or their close relatives).
Farm Investor Pathway
This pathway (which replaces the previous Farm Strategic Recruitment Initiative) is meant for individuals with proven farm business experience, capacity to invest necessary capital, and who intend to establish and operate a farm operation in rural Manitoba.
The expectation is that successful applicants will establish a farm business in rural Manitoba producing primary products that is consistent with the province’s current farm industry. The type of operation and investment must correlate with Provincial statistics and be relevant to Manitoba’s farm industry. Agri-business operations not producing primary products may qualify under the Entrepreneur Pathway.
